Advent Prayers
The season of Advent invites us to prepare our hearts to receive the Divine. From the point of view of the Enneagram, God comes to us in this season in the spaces of the heart.
At TWO, we are loved unconditionally.
At THREE, we get a feeling for what is true.
At FOUR, God desires us beyond our wildest dreams.
I.
O God, the unknown in the unknown — come down and open our hearts in this Advent season.
So long do we wait for you, not even knowing if you are there.
Our hearts break in this world of woe. Break open our hearts and be our light.
Be again our Light in the Darkness.
Amen.
II.
O God, ever present—be patient of our absence from you.
Forgive us the laziness and despair of spirit we sometimes choose to dwell in.
Awaken us to your irresistible invitation to love.
Fill us, not with platitudes or certainty, but with encounter — with each other and with your Divine Being.
Amen.
